The last week was wet with 2 inches of rain, reports weatherman Peter Finlayson, bringing the monthly total to 3.6 inches.
This is more than normal for July with one week to go. It probably seems like a lot more moisture given the daily deluge of showers and thunderstorms. Heat units for the week were 183, which running at about 1 HU a day is less than normal; but with the hot weather forecast for the coming week, July should bring the number back up to average. The total number of heat units since May 9th are now 1680. Otherwise the crops are looking good, lush and green, and some farmers are into 3rd cut hay already. The blueberries this year are huge and the sweet corn on the market is full, getting fuller and sweeter by the day.
