August 10-16, 2014,
Last week was wet but rain was localized so it will vary a lot from one place to the next. Heat units are slipping behind and since the warmest part of August is past, it will be hard to catch up at this stage of the season. With the wheat harvest underway, there are very little barley or oats to be seen. Although the soybeans look fantastic, good looking beans don't always yield as well. Hay and pastures are phenomenal - "I don't think I've ever seen a year like this, the hay just doesn't stop growing."
