45 young members of the community were invited to an awards gala celebrating all their hard work and volunteering efforts on Thursday evening.
Youth aged six to 24 and their families were invited to an evening in the jungle at Grove Hall in Huntingdon organized by the CSSS Haut-Saint-Laurent.
“Out there is a jungle. You need your talents: courage, determination, and what you all have, the heart,” said Annik Hall, CLD agent, of the theme of the night.
All 45 community members received certificates of acknowledgement, while there were also first, second and third prize winners in the five categories: volunteer work or citizen involvement, youth retention in school or community, healthy living habits, cultural action, and environment.
François Dupuis was also honored as ‘volunteer of the year’ and although he could not attend, a special video was presented to the audience near the end of the evening.
The awards were sprinkled with performances by local youth ranging from singing, to hip-hop dancing, to flipping cups in tune with music – a must see!
Come back soon to see the list of winners and a special video of the evening’s performances.
